Carter BloodCare takes first step towards future expansion plans
Waco/Woodway, Texas – March 25, 2009 – Carter BloodCare headquartered in Bedford, with additional operations in Waco and Tyler, Texas today announced the purchase of 6.5 acres of land in The Colonnade in Woodway, Texas. The blood center plans to use the plot of land to eventually consolidate much of the Waco operations under one roof, and to expand and improve services to hospitals and their patients in Central Texas. The purchase was facilitated by Colony Development Partners, developer of The Colonnade.
The Colonnade is a 40-acre, mixed-use development that includes space for medical offices, hotel, retail, and restaurant/entertainment. The development is positioned at the southeast corner of Woodway Drive / Highway 84 and Texas Central Parkway with Highway frontage of over 1,362 feet.
The future Woodway Campus will be more centrally located to the entire Central Texas service area and will provide space for component production and distribution, mobile staging and mobile collections, facilities and fleet management, human resources, staff training and development, donor recruitment and marketing, and administration.

"The new facility will enable Carter BloodCare to successfully meet the rapidly growing demand for blood and to better serve the hospitals and patients in Waco and Central Texas."
Carter BloodCare began services in the Waco area in June 2001 at the request of Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center and Providence Health Center. The community blood center accepted the responsibility to provide a high-quality, readily available and sufficient blood supply for Central Texas and in November of 2002 opened its donor center in Waco located at 4332 West Waco Drive. The establishment of the donor center was followed by the addition of administrative and training centers in 2007.
The sellers in this transaction were represented by Randy Reid of The Reid Company and Jimmy Banks of Triliji Group. The buyers were represented by Robert Karpman of Realty Concepts and by the Westbrook Real Estate Company.
Carter BloodCare's volunteer donors provide lifesaving blood for patients at over 200
healthcare facilities in 56 North, Central and East Texas counties, including 16 hospitals within 11 counties in Waco and Central Texas. Carter BloodCare is the largest blood center in Texas and is accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks, licensed by the Food and Drug Administration and is a member of America's Blood Centers.
